Hi, I’m from the Netherlands and I started attending the
regular course programme as of April 2015. Anyways, I have been travelling for
a while now and no matter where you are on this world, it’s the people that
make everything worthwhile. It’s not my first time spending a long period of
time abroad as I have studied in Taiwan for about a year, after which I just
travelled throughout East-Asia for about another year after which I returned to
Europe. But seeing as I couldn’t get the travel bug out of my system I decided
to make Japan my next new experience. And what an experience it has been.
Yes, you will get worked hard d(^.^)
But we also had fun projects such as making posters
based on a chosen topic regarding Kyoto’s culture. Who could ever forget those
great afternoons we stayed at school after class to make our posters, filled
with laughter and languages other than Japanese…*ahem* f(^^;)
There are also field trips to various famous spots
such as the Kiyomizudera Temple and Kodaiji-Temple as well as cultural
activities such as tea ceremonies, Japanese confectionary workshops and
Japanese handcrafts.
Immerse yourself in Japanese culture!
The teachers are just as colorful as the classmates, each with their own views on life and distinct teaching styles. To make sure you get to experience the full package you get three teachers during the semester for the morning classes, which are the regular courses such as speaking, listening, writing and reading. The afternoon classes are filled with elective courses ranging from cultural activities to reading newspapers and JLPT preparatory classes, there is something for everyone!
The staff members at the office are just wonderful;
they help out with any problems you might bump into while living in Japan,
including everyday problems such as ward office registration, garbage disposal,
moving to a new apartment etc. So don’t
fret it, when something’s up, just go to the office, everyone’s eager to help!
The best things in life are the people we love, the places we’ve been to and the memories we’ve made along the way. We don’t meet people by accident. They are meant to cross our path for a reason. In the end I am very glad I took the step and came over here to KICL. Thank you all for the great memories and I wish you all the best in achieving your dreams. May we meet again!
